Gellert’s win Grower2Grower Golf Day tournament for 2024

Gellert’s win Grower2Grower Golf Day tournament for 2024
Photo Gallery of the 2024 Grower2Grower Golf Day.  Congratulations to all the teams that entered and enjoyed the day.

This year the team from Gellert’s won the tournament edging out Educhem.  It was a fantastic day and I would like to thank all those who attended.  A special thank you to all of the sponsors who make the day possible.  It now appears this event is in everyone’s Calander – so we will see you all again next year!

Well done Steve Gellert, Michelle White, Mitch Collins and Julie White for taking out this years title for the first time.  No pressure next year!

Over one hundred people attended this years event, their was a perfect mix of growers and suppliers

Thanks to our amazing Platinum Sponsors Horticentre!   Without all of the sponsorship from our amazing Grower2Grower sponsors the day simply would not happen!

The day started with a bacon and egg muffin plus a drink to settle the golfers’ nerves!

The Drury Horticentre team – No one knows what place they finished. I heard rumours they are still on the course!

Team Diffused representing Apex Greenhouses.  Thanks to the on-course drink sponsors Apex Greenhouses.

The winning Gellert’s team!

Thanks to Marie Vogrincic (Right) for organising such a great event and for the amazing help from our golf day management team Tarryn Collie (left) and Dinah Cohen (Tomatoes NZ) during the day.  A special mention to Jo Beatie (middle), Pukekohe Golf Club Manager and her team for hosting the event.  The staff were brilliant!

The really tired (retired) growers representing Horticentre.

The weather was overcast but with no wind and warm temperatures, conditions were perfect!

Thanks to Marijke Haira and FTEK for supporting the event this year.  The game at the tee was a great idea!  Commiserations to Wilcox who were pipped at the post by the Grower2Grower Tomnadoes team!

Team NZ Hothouse – Well done to Kristy Blacklaws representing NZ Hothouse for winning the longest drive competition for the third year in a row!!

The Par-Tee Growers representing Horticentre were this year’s big improvers. (Must have been the choclate cake)

Thanks to Alastair McLean and the crew from Powerplants for entertaining all the golfers at hole number 6.  I heard Richard Hectors hit a few balls into the water – just as well you are irrigation experts!

Thanks to Imke Blackett and Damien Gibson from Premier Seeds for nourishing all of the golfers with bananas and goodies at tee number 9.  This year no team shot over 90 which was an amazing achievement!  Well done to team Smile on another great days golf!

Hamish Frizell and the teams from the BNZ were new to the competition this year.  They were a bit ruffled with banter from the ANZ team, however, in the ‘Battle of the Banks’ the BNZ came out on top!  Thanks to the BNZ for supporting this event as a new sponsor this year and donating to the charity raffle.

Great to see Paula O’Hanlon and Janine Grul from Lefroy Valley back for their annual round of golf :-). Thanks to Lefroy Valley for their continued support and sponsorship of the event

Chep – ‘Contain Me’ was back for the third year.  Well done to Catherine Mitchell for winning closest to the pin!

Thanks to the growers from the Tee & Gee team (representing T&G) for supporting the event yet again.  A special thanks to Chris Cowie for travelling from Reperoa and returning back home that evening.

Thanks to Theunie and Joe Wiid from Extrutec for driving all the way from up North to be with us on the day.  Great to have your support.  Alongside Theunie and Joe are the team that represented Grower2Grower – the Tomnadoes.  Thanks to Ton Habraken, Svennsson Screens for joining my team on the day!

Well done and thank you to the team representing ANZ.   I hope you are back next year to win the battle of the banks!

Thanks to the Wilcox teams for entering for the third year in a row – great to see those orange hats on the course.  I noticed some ‘digging’ up on the fairway and I wanted to let you know that NO the land is not for lease to grow potatoes!  Or was that just Scott Rimes making large divots!

The Young Hort Team led by Jo Woolley with the Gourmet Waiuku Bashers led by Roelf Schreuder.  Thaks to Kim Martin and Zonda for your amazing support of the event – what did happen to those bees!

Molly Green – Star Baker!  Molly from the Pukekohe Horticentre Branch baked a delicious Chocolate Cake – it was so good we have decided next year we will have a  cake bake of competition!

The Horticentre team representing the West Auckland Branch were finally found in the bar! Competitive as always, they won bragging rights for the best of the Horticentre teams.  Lucky Vena wasn’t in your team!

Great day to make new contacts

Par-Tee Time!

Thanks to Marie for organising the Grower2Grower Golf Day – it takes a lot of work and she gets it right every year!

Thanks again to all that participated in the Grower2Grower Golf Day – we hope to see you all back again same time same place next year.
