Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Grower Manager to join our Pukekohe-based team. A strong focus on people and relationship-building skills is essential, as you will be working closely with staff and stakeholders to foster a positive and productive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring crop protection and care, and staff management. This role encompasses all aspects of crop care, as well as glasshouse and equipment operations, care, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with staff and stakeholders.
* Oversee crop protection and care to ensure optimal growth, health and yield.
* Manage glasshouse and equipment operations, ensuring all systems are functioning efficiently.
* Perform regular maintenance and care of equipment to prevent downtime.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align on goals and expectations.
* Implement/encourage sustainable growing practices in line with our environmental goals.
Requirements
* Exceptional interpersonal skills with a passion for staff management and stakeholder communication.
* Minimum of five years’ experience as a manager within the hydroponic horticultural industry or as a hothouse grower.
* Current forklift and sprayer license.
* Strong understanding of environmentally friendly growing techniques.
* Availability to work some weekends when rostered.
